Get a grip

Its stuck in my head and I can't get it out. The logical result of the existence of a frame of reference is the idea that whatever we see immediately is framed by what we've seen. This morning I listened to a podcast on design where the commentator was talking about the gestalt concept in design. He used the term "convenient cognitive handle". What an intriguing concept and one that relates so dramatically to the "we of me" concept. We all have inside our frame of reference, little handles that protrude from every angle and every thing we hear, see, or experience forces us back to grab one of those convenient cognitive handles. Those handles define everything; relationships, attitudes, spirituality, our very definition of life is based on how we approach it in our heads.
